"Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal." ~Isaiah 26:4, NIV
There are a lot of recurring images in the Bible, and most of them have to do with God. Because He is impossible to truly comprehend, the prophets and kings and God Himself use pictures to describe different aspects of who He is. In today's verse, He is the Rock eternal. In the times that this was written, one thought of a rock as an unchanging, immovable, solid foundation or building material. An eternal rock then does not change to erosion, does not crumble under pressure, and cannot be moved.
These are attributes of the God we choose to trust. Since He was loving yesterday, He is loving today. Since He was merciful yesterday, He is merciful today. None of your problems, none of your faults faze Him. He made you and He loves you, and He wants to help you move past whatever's in your way. And He can, if you let Him.
